It is a well-known adage that a good official is one that is hardly noticed.  When you are noticed on the field, it is always surrounded by controversy.  If an official is quoted in the press, it is usually because of a controversial or missed call.

These things happen in sports.  Even if it is the league or conference policy for officials not to speak to the press, it is important that officials receive training in how to handle this scrutiny.
